Artist's Statement

"I explore the concept of duality or unity of opposites as it defines the existence of a situation depending on the co-existence of the opposite. I stretch this fluid concept by focusing on either opposite while considering both as a possibility at the same time. As in quantum physics, an object could be a wave or a particle depending on the act of observation, thus basically the object's identity includes both although it switches its "appearance" depending on how is measured and observed. Within this metaphysical parameter, I explore the concepts of the permanent and the temporal, the everlasting and the ephemeral, the real and the virtual and the perceived social interaction and the existential isolation of our times, as it applies to our daily life as well as in a more abstract and conceptual way. In a post-minimalist vocabulary, my works visually synthesize image, form and trace process. These works reveal their identity as explorations of surface, material and texture as a means to suggest the contrast between a bleak background against crowded "objects" to evoke the sense of separate-ness between our intense inner life and the emptiness of our surroundings."
